The Top 5 Reasons to Choose North Central Turf!

Let’s be honest. There are a LOT of landscaping companies! Some have more catchy names than us, and some have really cool wraps on their vehicles with huge blades of grass wearing perfect shining water droplets. Heck, anyone with a lawn mower and a pair of gloves can call themselves a landscaping company. So what sets us apart from the others?

Let me explain.

We have a LOT of experience under our belt.

Our company didn’t start yesterday. We didn’t start 5 years ago, or 10. As of today, we’ve been in business for 32 years. This company is older than I am! When this company started, all the sod was cut with a hand-pushed sodcutter, photos were taken with a polaroid instant camera, and every lawn was measured by hand for lawn applications (we now have a sodcutter we drive, most photos are taken with our smart phones, and we’re able to measure lawns by satellite!) We’ve been here through a lot of changes and advancements. We’ve watched competitors pop up and then dissolve. We’ve been through recessions and droughts. We’ve made mistakes, and we’ve learned from them. We know what works the best, and we continue learning and moving each and every year to try and create a better experience for YOU, our customer.

We are proud of our work, and we stand behind it!

Because we’ve been around so long, we’ve learned what does and doesn’t work, which products we trust, and what types of seed/sod/plants do well in certain areas. We stand behind the work we do because we’re proud of it! We work hard, and most of our projects have a lot of “sweat equity,” so we expect them to last a long time. We always tell our customers that they shouldn’t have any problems whatsoever – but if they do, let us know, and we’ll figure out what’s going on and make them right. This is why many or our lawn care and landscaping customers are return customers!

We aren’t annoying!

Exhibit A) I don’t want to say any names (okay… it rhymes with schmoo schmeen,) but I receive a mailing from them about twelve times per year – this includes to my home address and the business. I have never inquired with this company, so why do they keep sending me stuff? Please, Company Who Shall Not Be Named, please stop wasting trees. I love trees! At The Turf, we will NOT send you junk mail. We send out a paper newsletter to our lawn care customers once each year, and provide email newsletters 2-3 times per year for those on our email list.

We won’t bug you with junk mail, cold calls, or try to sell you services that you don’t even need. Scouts honor!

Exhibit B) Another pet peeve of mine? AUTOMATED VOICE ANSWERING SYSTEMS. Maybe I’m being dramatic, but I’ve wasted at least half of my life listening to automated answering systems and having to repeat myself, dial multiple numbers, wait through an entire list of options, or hang up and call again because I clicked the wrong number. They’re the worst! You’ll never go through an automated system when you call The Turf. As long as you call during business hours (if not, it’ll just keep ringing,) a super nice, super helpful and awesome staff member will answer your call and talk to you in a warm, fluid, and understanding manner that only a human can pull off. Pinkie Promise! Oh, and if you hate talking on the phone, just email us!

While we’re on the topic of business hours, here are our hours:

April through November: M-F 8-5, Saturday 8-noon

December through February M-F 8-4

When you support us, we support our community!

I once saw this saying that really struck home:

“When you buy from a small business, you’re not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You’re helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom or dad put food on the table, a family pay a mortgage, or a student pay for college.”

At The Turf, we’ve been supporting our employees, other local businesses, and organizations within our community and the surrounding communities for 32 years. In the past five years, North Central Turf and our sister company have donated over $30,000 to local charitable organizations that we believe in. We believe in giving back to the community that has kept us going for so long, and we will continue to do so as long as we’re here.

We’re honest and straight forward.

I don’t consider myself a “crusher of dreams,” persay, but, if your beautiful, pinterest-inspired landscaping vision board is full of plants that won't survive our climate, we'll politely let you know that they aren't your best option. In the short term, being honest doesn't always make us friends right off the bat. but in the long term, it creates return customers who see value in doing business with an honest and true company. Besides, you know that anyone can post stuff online, right? This includes people who have never landscaped a day in their life, but just have really great photography skills!
